LED Module Repair & Flexibility Testing

When it comes to LED displays, even a single faulty pixel can affect the overall viewing experience. In this article, we share how our engineers repair and test an isosceles triangle-shaped LED module, highlighting both the precision of the repair and the durability of the product.
Step 1: Identifying the Faulty Pixel
During inspection, one of the LED pixel lamps on the module was found not to light up properly. This can happen occasionally due to external impact, static electricity, or minor soldering issues.
Step 2: Careful Removal of the Damaged LED
With the help of fine tweezers, the faulty LED was carefully removed. This process requires precision to avoid damaging the copper pads on the module’s surface.
Step 3: Preparing and Replacing the LED
A new LED pixel lamp was selected and a small amount of solder paste was applied to its contact points. The solder paste acts like a “glue” that helps the new LED bond firmly to the copper pads when heated.
Step 4: Soldering with Hot Air Technology
Using a hot air gun, the solder paste was heated until it melted, allowing the new LED to attach securely. This method ensures a strong and stable connection, restoring the module’s functionality.
Step 5: Power-On Test for Accuracy
After replacement, the module was powered on and tested across different colors (red, green, blue, and white) to ensure every pixel lit up correctly. This step guarantees that there are no hidden defects or dead pixels.
Step 6: Flexibility and Durability Test
Finally, the module was gently bent and flexed. This test simulates real-world installation scenarios, especially for custom-shaped and flexible LED displays. It also confirms that the new LED remains firmly in place even under stress.
